Blackboard, Inc.

Encon provided services which include mechanical, electrical, plumbing, sprinkler, fire protection and life safety design. This project for Blackboard, Inc has the following components: conference center with multiple conference rooms, closed and open office areas, pantry and catering areas, executive shower room, cafeteria and lunch room, high density filing area, sever room and IDF closets, reception, general conference rooms and audiovisual systems in the conference rooms.

Our scope of work included visits to the project site as required during the preparation of the design documents to survey existing conditions, meetings with the project team, and document coordination meetings.

Encon also performed an on site survey of the base building and of the project site to evaluate and become familiar with the existing conditions of the space and its architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, life safety systems and provided solutions and or recommendations to correct or accommodate items which would impact the project requirements.

MSNBC Studio for Hardball

Washington, DC

Encon provided engineering services for 3,500 square feet of studio, technical support and production support MSNBC's Hardball and 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Accoustical considererations were critical due to restricted slab to slab dimensions and its site location.

Omni Shoreham Hotel

Washington, DC

Engineering design services were provided for the renovation of the 800-room hotel that was originally constructed in the late 1930s. All renovation work was carefully scheduled so that the hotel remained fully operational while changes were being made.

Potomac Yards Land Bay

Arlington, Virginia

Provided electrical design services for two 250,000 square foot office towers constructed over a common two-level parking structure. The anchor tenant will be a 50,000 square foot health club.

American Can Factory

Baltimore, Maryland

Provided engineering services for 250,000 square foot factory, originally a manufacturing facility in the 1940’s and is now listed in Baltimore’s historic register. The project involved the design of retail and tenant office spaces, as well as incubator offices for new and upcoming companies. Due to its size, new electrical services were brought in at various points along the length of the building, and each tenant and retail spaces were individually metered.

Grand Hyatt Hotel

Washington, DC

Provided engineering services for 900 room hotel, including 58 suites, 800,000 square foot hotel and conference center located in the heart of Washington’s business and Federal districts. The hotel features 40,000 square feet of meeting space, a state-of-the-art conference theater, and a 12-story atrium that projects from the entry level to the roof. At the time of construction, the atrium was the largest of its kind in Washington, DC.

Irvington Center

Rockville, Maryland

Provided engineering design services for a 150,000 square foot, mixed-use office building and adjacent 150,000 square foot, 3-story above ground parking structure, as well as a 200,000 square foot mixed-use building and underground parking. Both projects were a part of the new King Farm planned community.

Fox 25 News

Boston, Massachusetts

Engineering services for a 120,000 square foot station renovation and expansion for studios, production suites, support offices and food service. Design included new site utilities, mechanical systems, electrical distribution and life safety systems.

Ketchup Restaurant at National Harbor

Oxon Hill, Maryland

Encon provided engineering design for a 6,000 square foot full service restaurant that will anchor the retail component bordering the waterfront section of the Harbor.

Marriott Hotel/Addition

Rockville, Maryland

Provided engineering design services for a 12-story addition to the existing high-rise Marriott Hotel, which is a part of the Montgomery County Conference Center. All fire safety, mechanical, and electrical designs were integrated into the Conference Center’s central control boards. Construction was carefully phased so as not to disturb hotel operations.

Hilton Garden Inn

Bethesda, Maryland

Provided engineering design services for 175,000 square foot high rise hotel. The hotel was designed over and integrated into an existing parking structure that was a part of a heavily populated commercial district.

Westin Hotel

Reston, Virginia

Provided engineering design services for the 193-room, 8-story hotel that was constructed as the second phase of a planned 180,000 square foot office complex and 250,000 square foot parking structure.

American Public University System (APUS)

Manassas, Virginia

Encon provided APUS with HVAC upgrades including replacement of rooftop units, VAV terminal boxes and digital controls. New lighting design, fire alarm and fire protection was also included.
